To be read in conjunction with my post in the 'characters' thread.
I can see a real range of characters in this story which goes beyond your other works to date, in a different direction. I know I'm repeating myself, but I'm really enjoying reading and analysing this whole thing. Anyway, I see this story less as being about relationships and more about one character's search for a better understanding of what it means to be gay, and how much part that plays in your life. Maybe there will be an emotional plot strand where he confronts with trent their shared intimacy issues, or likewise with his uncle. Perhaps rory makes friends with the gay rights guys and gets sucked unwillingly into the gay scene. Perhaps he has a string of hookups with several gay guys in his school and is forced to choose. There are so many possibilities, it's hard to say which you will go for or which I'd like to see best. As far as predictions go, in the short term I'd love to see this story focus on rory's background and the setting and other characters without getting tied up too early in romantic interests - I think getting straight in there with the relationships would be both against the character of rory and a wasted opportunity to take this story in an interesting direction. Of course, that's not to say a good sex scene is out of the question here and there - the self-sucking passage had me drooling, from the mouth and somewhere else! ;-)
I'm the long term, this could go anywhere that I've outlined above or anywhere else for that matter. I think I see it in my head as working towards the point where rory stops looking for sex and becomes emotionally ready for a stable loving gay relationship, which he clearly isn't at the start.
Wherever you take it, I'll be more than happy to follow though!
