This thread is prob gonna get moved but I enjoyed these anime.
Trigun FLCL (aka Fooly Cooly) Cowboy Bebop Ghost in the Shell (all of them but starting at the beginning is the best way otherwise things can be confusing) The Big O Fairy Tale (it is funny not the best story line but the humor is good) Rave Master (same group made Fairy Tale and I enjoy their humor but the story is lacking) Witch Hunter Robin S-Cry-ed D.N. Angle Blood+ (or Blood Plus)
Those are series I can recommend a few movies if you are interested also.

Films: Akira (the film is in exactly the same art style as the manga, which is even more incredible) All Hayao Miyazaki films, but especially Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind Howl's Moving Castle Castle in the Sky Princess Mononoke. Many of the other films released through Studio Ghibli are also quite good, but the best has to be Grave of the Fireflies. Origin - Spirits of the Past.
I'll probably think of some more later, but these are the films that I like enough to have them on my hard drive.
