TV shows that you watch

I love everything about MTW apart from Andy Parsons. Occasionally he says something funny or unexpected but I can't forgive him for that stupid look of self-satisfaction he gets whenever the audience laughs at him.

but andy is like, my 3rd/4th favorite!

Im currently working my way through Monty Pythons Flying Circus lol.

never cared to see any monty python movies. i think ive seen the holy grail but thats it & even then, i dunno if i saw the whole thing.

The flying circus is the tv series they did. I laugh every time i see the dead parrot skit. Always wanted to try it at work. Doubt petco would appreciate it though. Speaking of which time to watch the dead parrot skit on youtube

Theyre definately not everyones cup of tea that is for sure. But my humor has always been a bit odd anyway.

I don't know if there are any anime fans here, and if there are you'll probably have already seen this, but COWBOY BEBOP! I started watching it because I heard some of the soundtrack and it is brilliant (blues and jazz and all kinds of awesomeness) but kept watching because it's all space western noiry deliciousness. Go check it out! There's only 26 episodes and they're less than half an hour long, easy to burn through or spread out like little nuggets of joy depending on how you watch things.

im quite becoming a fan of british shows such as would i lie to you, q.i. & others like it. alex, why wont these shows migrate to 'murica? i die laughing at so many of these clips i watch on youtube

I dunno. I guess we're shy about sending shows over there because whenever Murica likes a British TV show they decide the best way to show that would be to remake it with an all-American cast and Americanised jokes and it pretty much always sucks (apparently The Office is the exception here, but I've not seen either version so I can't comment). Blame TV execs for noticing that Murican's like British TV but somehow assuming that they must not be getting half of it because it's all Britishy and trying to fix it for a dumbass US audience.

Yeah, sorry, I was talking about fiction whereas you were talking mostly about panel shows, for which I can't offer an explanation. I'm guessing though that in the next few years there'll be online streaming services which specialise in cross-pollinating media across the Atlantic. When people can watch things the moment they come out by pirating or streaming illegally, companies are missing out on a whole load of profits by releasing things at different times in different countries or just straight-up restricting distribution. The obvious example would be Game of Thrones, where pretty much everyone I know in the UK torrented it because nobody was going to wait a year to buy it on DVD and there just wasn't any other way to get hold of it.

Not entirely sure if anyone here watches Doctor Who. But the 12th Doctor was just announced yesterday, and I'm really excited to see what he brings to the show.

I've been watching The News Room and it so awesome brilliant! IMO it's in par with House M.D., and even The Office. If you guys love those shows, you should give this one a go.

honestly, i wanted to start watching the newsroom. the trailers for it when it first premiered were awesome but i just never got around to actually seeing it. i love those kinds of political dramas too

Dude, watch it! the way Sorkin has written the stories around real news worthy events is amazingly awesome!

I was recently put onto Parks and Rec, which is hilarious. I'm only halfway through the second series and I'm reliably informed that the third season is where the show finds its groove and becomes absolutely brilliant, so since I already think it's great that can only bode well. Check it out if you haven't already.

As for Doctor Who, those of you who have me on facebook may have seen my epic rant and therefore already know my stance on the show, but I've sort of given up on DW after being tremendously disappointed by Stephen Moffat's work as head creative director and also because I got too annoyed with the way that the media gives away every single cast change months in advance, so all the biggest plot twists like new companions and new doctors get spoiled. How can I get at all invested in the characters and fear for their safety when I know they're contracted for another two seasons? While I love Peter Capaldi and may even check out his Doctor come Christmas time, the way the BBC dressed up the announcement as though it was something exciting and not them essentially giving away the biggest spoiler in their whole show pissed me off to no end.

When I heard that Peter Capaldi was the new Doctor, in my ignorance thought that it was made at a press conference and such.

 

michael j fox & sean hayes (from will & grace) are both coming back to tv & im excited to watch their new shows. the michael j fox show & sean saves the world.

Both of their shows were advertised during the new Parks and Rec season opener with those stupid banner ads at the bottom of the screen. It's so fucking irritating, over here that happened ONCE on the BBC and everyone complained so much they stopped doing it.

in my opinion, so many sitcoms today are just really shitty so i dont expect to be laughing much at sean saves the world. but maybe there'll be a consistent reason why i watch it. i watch "baby daddy" on abc family & in its 2 seasons, i think i only laughed at 1 joke so far. i just watch it cuz jean-luc bilodeau is soooo yummy xD
