Helena Bonham Carter playing Hermione pretending to be Bellatrix was a fantastic moment of acting. She's definitely one of my favourite actresses. As for favourite characters, I'm torn between Lupin and Draco Malfoy. They're both such complex characters with a strong connection to Harry. I definitely teared up at Lupin and Tonks' bodies laid out next to each other, even though it was so obviously set up as an emotional moment. Overall I wish they'd put more effort into making the films good in their own right, rather than merely a visual companion to the books. It just feels like throughout the filming they've known that people will pay shitloads to see a Harry Potter movie just because it's such a big force in a lot of people's lives, so they could be lazy. But I guess I'd probably feel like that regardless of how good the films actually were.
Other good films I've watched recently: Platoon - won several Oscars, brilliant acting from Willem Dafoe and Charlie Sheen (no, really) Monster (2003) - incredibly depressing but well written and fantastically acted. Charlize Theron completely becomes the protagonist to the point that it's scary.

Anyone who doesn't already know the plot must have been in a cave for the last few years! Given that this is a Movies thread, you can expect some level of criticism and discussion of films, no? I'm not sure what your problem is, even if you're not 'really' annoyed...

Relax. I just wanna be surprised by the visual effects and how it deviates from the book.
I'm a purist, changes from the book make me desire someone's head.

I agree with Alex, Helena Bonham Carter as Hermione was just brilliant. But for me Ralph Fiennes & Alan Rickman stole the show. They were beyond awesome.

So who watched Lion King in 3D? I wish I could've watched it. When I saw the trailer of it during HP7 part 2 I felt so happy, idk why.

Insidious i found u lacking. i heard so many good things about u. i should have know when the music started to play what kind of movie u would be. i have to admit that u had ur hair raising moments but not enough. very disappointing...

I actually liked Insiduous. I'm not a huge horror movie fan so it was good enough for me.
