However, since we're talking about ginormous plates of fail, I'll just say that it occurred to me...I graduate in half a year. I have no idea what I'm going to do when I graduate. I have no job, no money, no desirable skills from my degree, and right now I'm not even sure I'll graduate thanks to a colossal fuck up on my exam. I'm not ready to be an adult, that much is pretty much assured.
Before y'all point it out, there aren't going to be any elections I can run in until 2014 at the very earliest, that's a rather long time for me to go without a job of any kind. Hence my no job worry. So many things outside my control, so many things that I'm not sure I'll get accomplished and made right. So panicked, anyone got some advice for the Canadian Twig?

I was going to be Florida by January next year so that i can start on my flying licenses ratings and also on my aviation degree. My father said early on that he'll be able to pay only for about 1/4th of the whole thing and I had to get a loan from a bank if possible, if not he might try to get a loan for me. Education loans are absolutely messed up in the country; I didnt know this. Basically, if i get the loan, i should be start the payment the following month. With no job, and no job for the next 4 years i couldnt have a loan. on the other hand, my dad already has a loan from his bank so he couldnt get a loan sufficient enough to pay even part of the fee. So I had to scrap that plan and go to plan B.

I didnt have a plan B.

So i was thinking about other stuff that i wanted to do, and one of them is to become a barman. I saw a bartending school in London, and it was cheap and took only 4 weeks and i thought that i could work as a barman in a cruise and start saving money and pay for the flying school myself. But my father objected again cos he'd have to spend a sizable amount on the visa and an even bigger amount for my flight ticket and it was too expensive if i was going to spend only 4 weeks, which i understand.

He suggested the i do a F&B course and work as a manager of some sort. I dont have a problem with this, except that he wants me to become a manager and stay one. Becoming a pilot is the only thing that Ive been looking forward to and i just cant seem to let go and jst give up and at the same time, i have run out of options. I am at my wit's end and I just dont know what to do.

I hate it that money is always the problem for me and that i cant move forward in life and achieve anything cos of something that's beyond me. I dont blame my father for not having the money cos it's something beyond him too, we live a very comfortable life here in SL but in another country, we'd be broke as shit. but i hate that i was encouraged to think that "I can be whatever i want to be" and now I'm being told to just drop it and look into other things.

1) why do u have to come all the way to florida to do it?
2) why not get a job IN YOUR OWN COUNTRY for a while so THEN u can start saving?

DONT be a manager if u dont wanna be 1. too many people in this world complain about their jobs. my dad wanted to be a pilot when he was younger & he took a couple lessons but he had to stop because he couldnt afford it. he doesnt regret his job now but hes told me that he wouldve liked to be a pilot. so im telling u, find a job a little more local than london, save up & then start getting lessons...maybe somewhere in sri lanka so u dont have to pay more money to come to florida

I wanted to study in Florida cos I always wanted to live there, for a few years at least but also cos I could get my degree in aviation in the flight school that i applied to without the expensive stuff that an aeronautical university would make you pay for. I am looking into getting at least my licenses here.

F&B is apparently Food and Beverages in the hotels and stuff like that.
