Snobby only applies to a certain social class, the stereotypical middle class conservatives who believe everything they read in the paper and spend all their time moaning about immigrants taking our jobs and gays destroying family values. Basically the American south without the religious fanaticism or the trailer trash - although we do have that, but they're called chavs.
As for rich, we get by. As a nation, we do pretty well for ourselves I guess, but no better than any other first word, developed country. I guess as well that that's more of a historical stereotype being as we had an empire and ruled the world for a good long time

England as far as I know is a lovely and ideal place to live in.

One of the downsides of the UK, of course, is the shit weather. Lotsa rain, not much sun, never very warm except on the rarest of summer days. But we live in hope that global warming will improve our weather while magically not drowning us all. Ah, optimism

england is NOT perfect ephraim

lets not romanticize england. london is great, but the rest of the country is another story. the rural areas, for example, have a rigid class structure that is not easy to overcome.

Yeah, I can do a few American accents. There's the LA twentysomething girl whose every other word is "Oh MY GOD!", then the southern drawl, and then the northern emo kid (at least, that's how I think of them).

Yeah, England's class system is much more codified and strict than in America, the whole idea of social mobility is less and less likely nowadays, especially with inter-class stereotypes and fractured relationships.

My former tutor told me that in England, u can determine within several miles of where someone lives depending on their dialect accent

No, that's how I think of MY variant of the American accent!
Erm, you can use different local dialects to tell roughly where people are from in England, at least if they live in a big city which has a distinctive accent, but not THAT accurate! haha
