| Hey Guys!
Long time.... I know...
Well, sorry for disappearing for so long. My mom had some extreme health issues and I was in hospital with her for several months. So, I didn't really get that much time online. We're back home now, so I thought I'd check my email... lo and behold, I find an email from Kell (from Feb) saying that it would be an idea to come back to kbb every once and a while...
So... hi! | |

| JD!!! I've missed you man! Hope everything's OK with you now, and that you can stay around, but don't feel any pressure - just take all the time you need bro @Kell: It's some fucking stupid thing that the owning company of a chain of pubs or something in London sent around an email asking owners about whether they thought it was a good idea to ban people from wearing england foot ball shirts on the nights of big matches, in areas with a lot of racial and culutral diversity, to avoid people from starting fights. Of course, someone leaked this to the Daily Mail, our conservative lower middle class rag of vitriolic, homophobic, racist, sexist, backward piece of shit newspaper, and they wrote a load of bullshit about how england fans were being persecuted and it was all a symptom of 'politcial correctness gone mad'. Which of course is bollocks. Other recent pieces of trash from the Daily Mail include a piece about Stephen Gately, the openly gay boyband member who died last year, and about how it was all because he was gay that he died and his death somehow proved that gay people couldn't be happy in a relationship together; and a piece a week or so ago about how depression is 'just a trendy illness' and the best response to it is sucking it up and being 'more mature'. As you can tell, I FUCKING HATE this paper, and no, there's absolutely no bans on England football shirts, more's the pity. | |

| The Daily Mail likes stirring up the racist, ignorant fools who read the paper, and who would perceive any attempt at preventing them from wearing their football shirts as an assault on their very freedom, manufactured by evil immigrants and a Britain-hating government. | |

There is only ONE pub which actually decided to ban England shirts, and that was a publicity stunt (last year they banned christmas). The paper made up a story about a massive ban against anyone wearing england shirts at any time, in order to sell more papers, and a load of ignorant chavs got offended by the idea because they're stupid, and a load of racists tried to use it to prove that the government hates england, and we should get rid of all immigrants (in much the same way they use EVERYTHING to argue this moronic viewpoint).

| Thanks Trev, Alex and Ephraim! I missed you guys too!
The daily mail is absolute rubbish.... I place it in the same box as the Mirror and the Sun... that box being the recycling bin. The Guardian used to be my favorite. If I only ever had time to read it once a week, I'd get it on Tuesday to see the education section, which I found to be quite good. I think that this thing against immigrants is getting worse as time goes on, rather than better. Historically, I think these things tend to happen during bad socio-economic times. People tend to look for scapegoats. Over here, it's all about blaming the latin community. Over there, it was all about the Poles and Turks and the refugees from Kosovo... also about Indians and Pakistanis.... it doesn't really end.

| I think one of the issues at the moment, as well as the economy, is that although New Labour were right in thinking that immigration is a vital element of our economy and that we have an obligation to aid those seeing asylum, their great difficulties in controlling and preventing illegal immigration (often issues of bad record keeping, human error and a few nasty public scandals lie when they found out the immigration office cleaning staff was almost entirely in the country illegally) overshadowed that, leading a lot of people who were on the fence about immigration to side with the xenophobes and racists who protest it, and leaving many of those in support of immigration over a barrel, because even as someone who fully supports and recognises the importance of immigration, I can see that the system in place at the moment is neither socially nor economically viable or useful. **sigh** the problem is, because it's such a hot-button topic a lot of people are afraid to say what I've just said in case it sounds racist. | |

He's discussing the state of immigration reform in the UK, which looks to be in rather dire straits. Its similar to the problem border states are facing with illegal immigration from central america.
