wow! it was really nice balance between happy and... sad i guess, but idk. i guess its sad coz he was travis' best friend and he must've expected him to accept him being gay.... or... maybe he also had a crush on travis and was too scared to come out to him and when he moved out it was too late and now is pissed because some "city boy" has taken him... maybe...

Loving the realistic style that you write in even more nowadays. This chapter was FANTASTIC! Seriously, I actually had tears in my eyes, and that doesn't... well, OK, it's not that uncommon, but still, besides Comsie there have only been like 10 gay stories I've ever read that have done that to me, out of at least 1000.
The development of Travis' backstory is very interesting, seeing the kind of friends he had before coming into Connor's hometown gives some idea of the journey that he's gone through as a character - not just physically, but in terms of changing and maturing. Both of these are very mature characters, with very adult responses and problems to deal with, which is something that isn't so prevalent in your other stories. Keep up the great work!

This was dark. The back story into Travis' sex life and the extreme trauma of the situation makes it all the more interesting that he's willing and able to commit to a sexual relationship with Connor. It would be interesting, just for the sake of learning about the characters, to hear about Connor's realization of his sexual orientation, and to see how Travis coped with what happened.
It was...vivid, I shall give you that. It was vivid.

I mean, ok so he was raped by a child molester and Travis should have ratted on him and gotten him put away for a LONG time. There is nothing it that experience that would indicate to me that Travis is gay. He didn't like anything about it and understandably so. Had that happened to me, I don't know but I sure would have been traumatized. And angry. Very angry. If anything, I'd think an experience like that would make a kid hate gays. And if the kid just happened to be gay, it might make me hate myself.

Anyway, where in this does Travis realize that he is gay? Is that in the part he hasn't told yet? Like, he's going to enjoy being ass raped by a dirty old man? I doubt that!

That's when he started to rub his hands on my chest & his other hand was rubbing my face. I was still sweaty & shirtless, so his hand was gliding up & down my chest with ease. Then he started to slip his hand into my shorts & started to play with my privates."

All I could do was keep walking. I couldn't bring myself to look at him. I felt so sorry that that had happened to him. Only a little kid?

"It went farther than that, but...I really don't like talking about it."

"I understand. But what 'kinds' of things...?"

"I'll say it had to do with my mouth to his front, his front to my back & his mouth to my front.

"Oh my god..."

"I cried from the pain my butt was in & I went back home. My parents noticed that I was stumbling everywhere & I couldn't focus on anything. After I threw up 3 times, they took me to the hospital, had my stomach pumped & then asked me what happened. I told them everything."

"Then what?"

"The guy was arrested for what he did to me & they put him away for good."

Neither of us said anything for a few minutes. We both just listened to the sounds of buses, cars & people go by.

"But...when that happened, that's what I realized I liked. I mean of course I didn't like THAT, but the general thought of doing that kind of stuff with another guy. That's why when I was 13, I finally came out to my parents. After that I told my friends."

Crazy stuff Kell, very dark, but sadly this kind of thing happens. It's nice to think that the character has come to terms with what happened to him and can accept that it's not wrong to have sexual feelings, without feeling that what that guy did to him was at all acceptable. I think the way you wrote it though was just excellent, every chapter of yours I read just shows how much you are developing from day to day as a writer.

wow dude. i never thought that you'd write about sexual abuse and stuff. its kinda good that you did but ya know, it wasnt my favourite experience reading it. not because it was bad or anything. it was good. anyway, i always thought that the question "when did you realise that you were gay" a bit stupid, i mean, you walk up to a str8 guy and ask "when did you realise that you were str8?" doesnt make any sense does it? well, that question was like the only thing that put me off... good job kell. really!

@E: I agree, it's weird asking someone when they knew they were straight, but when you think about it in a society which is truly sexually liberated it would be a reasonable question. I mean, when I hit puberty I was attracted to both genders pretty much equally, and experimented with both. I never had any moral breakdown because of being attracted to guys, and I knew from what I'd read about adolescence that lots of or even most teens have attractions to both genders as their bodies change. So I decided I couldn't 'know' whether I was gay, bi or straight until my hormones etc settled down, and when they did, I was attracted to guys and not girls in the slightest, so I knew I was gay. That was at about age 15. Now imagine I had turned out being attracted to girls and not guys. In that case, I would have been straight, and nobody in our society would think to ask me when I realised I was straight, because it would be assumed that I was always straight. But although my sexuality might have been defined at birth, or been a product of my environment (not something I especially believe, but maybe), I would have gone through that same period of questioning, so there would have been a point at which I realised I was definitely straight, It's the society we live in, not the question, that makes it seem awkward.

like alex sed, whether we're born 1 way (i stand by that) or affected by wats around us, there IS kind of a time wen we DO realize wat we r. little kids r typically grossed out by the thought of being attracted 2 ppl, usually the opposite sex. my lil stepsister still goes "EWW THATS NASTY" wenever my dad & stepmom kiss. kids r "destined" 2 be 1 way or another, but they dont realize it yet til they hit puberty. ppl DO realize wen theyre gay or straight wen they realize "hey, im ACTUALLY attracted 2 sum1." if i wasnt gay, i wuda probly realized i was straight wen i was 12 or so, cuz thats wen i realized i was starting 2 get attracted 2 ppl (even though i declared myself gay wen i was 14)

i still stand by what i said. i dont thing you realise that you are gay/ bi/ lost in translation, just come into terms of it.

well, yeah, thats wats meant by realize: coming 2 terms. obviously we dont suddenly NOTICE that we like boys or girls.
